Sensuous music theatre with culinary surprises
Virág Dezső, artistic director of MAPA (Moving Academy for the Performing Arts), invites her students Che-Sheng Wu, Yung-Ku Tuan (percussion), Pikong Wu (saxophone) and I-Ily Cheng (piano, composition and live electronics ) (from Amsterdam Conservatory and ArtEz Zwolle) to provide a salon on 19 June.
Adding Virágs specific training in classical performance practice results in particular sensuous music. The emphasis is on authenticity, playfulness and virtuosity. The evening in the new theatre studio of MAPA is going to be a complete experience, not only the eyes and ears are pampered even your tongue caressed: Taiwanese delicacies will be prepared.
The performers, inspired by Dezső's coaching, did research on the integration of physical acting in the classical music world.
Saxophonist Pikong Wu concluded his master's degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with his thesis physicality in music interpretation ("Saxophone in Space").
Percussionist Yung-Tuan Ku wrote "Hello, Stage"; a workbook on physical acting for classical percussionists.
For Yung-Tuan Ku, the saloon are a foretaste of her performance in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the following day as part of the Holland Festival where she will represent the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
The four artists bring on 19 June a program from Romanticism to playful Avant-Garde.
You can enjoy their scintillating style of play in which music, poetry and theater meet. The evening was a complete finesse: your senses are stimulated during the entre-actes specialties Taiwanese cuisine.
The evening begins with a welcome drink and continues on and around the theater floor. After you can chat with the performers.
